86 Challenge Round 6 Results

Despite a two-month summer break to avoid the heat, we still found ourselves with a 100°F day for Round 6 at Thunderhill East. 23 participants braved the heat, across Stock, Street and Touring classes.

In Stock class, Saurabh Kulkarni and Nico Iskos played spoiler to Ivan’s bid to achieve a perfect season. Saurabh ended up claiming P1 with a 2:07.998, just edging out Nico’s 2:08.044 by half a tenth. 3rd-5th place were just separated by 1 tenth of a second, with Ivan nabbing P3.

Moving to Street class, Timur Iskhodzhanov made the most of his cheeky double registration—getting twice the track time by competing in two run groups. He set a 2:05.418 to take P1 and improved the Street class record by a whopping 1.5s. Bill Wu came in P2 with a 2:05.695, also comfortably beating the previous record. Jason Jin completed the Street class podium.

In Touring, it was a tale of two strategies, with Qianli Xing taking P1 with his 9 point build over Michael Oilar and Albert Meixner, both with Gen 1 cars with only 2 point builds. Qianli set a 2:04.933, the fastest overall time of the day.

Next up, we have 2 infrequently run, reverse layouts: Buttonwillow 1CCW followed by Thunderhill West CW.
