Round 11: It’s a wrap!

Sonoma – Nov 29, 2025

Final round! A cool, humid morning at Sonoma was an opportunity for people to set new PBs or even beat lap records. Thanks to SpeedSF, we once again got a dedicated run group for 86 Challenge, and most of the participants had little to no traffic throughout the day.

In GT Radial Stock class, Ivan Larionov brought back his new Gen. 2 BRZ, and immediately set a new lap record and grabbed the P1 with a 1:53.725 (1:56.225 adjusted). The second place went to our new taxi driver Saurabh Kulkarni, who drove a 1:55.755 lap (1:58.255 adjusted). A newcomer Brandon Stitt showed that he has his sights on Ivan with a solid 1:55.899 (1:58.399 adjusted).

In GT Radial Street class, Dennis Feng didn’t worry much about losing his Stock record as he got a new Street class record instead, with a blistering 1:51.535. Haowei Wu drove a borrowed car and got second place with a solid 1:52.873 — just shy of the previous record lap time — scaring away a McLaren or two in the process. In his first P3 of the year, the best Timur Iskhodzhanov could slide his car to was 1:53.172, questioning his setup choices and the decision to save a few bucks by instructing in the morning, compromising his first session.

In Touring class, Miles Kodama bit into the forbidden fruit and ditched the SX2s for V730s, forfeiting his championship prize. The gamble paid off: he won and set a new PB of 1:49.921, clinching the Touring title. In second place, Will Lorne clocked a 1:50.289 still blaming the tire he de-beaded at The Circuit. Can Tuzla completed the podium with a 1:51.851, coming back after a half-year-long hiatus.

In Unlimited class, Qianli blew us all away with an all-time 86 Challenge record of 1:46.920. Somewhere in his mirrors, he could probably still see Daniel Quinones on the hunt, who set a 1:53.358. Brian Kao, once again in Unlimited, grabbed the last remaining spot on the podium with his 1:54.461.

We’re going to be taking a break now, but expect 86 Challenge to be back in 2026, some time around February. Stay tuned for the announcements — exciting things are coming!
