86 Challenge Round 3 Results
Buttonwillow – Mar 29, 2025
The RaceTreads.com 86 Challenge's 2025 season made its way to Buttonwillow Raceway Park for the first time in 2025, hosted by Speed Ventures. Cool weather made for optimal lap conditions, intense competition, and broken lap records.
GT Radial Stock Class
Stock class had a showdown in the desert between Gen. 1 and Gen. 2 cars. Clutching 3rd place for the first time, 🥉 Peter Beynon (#56 Gen. 2) with an adjusted time of 2:12.175. In the heat of the battle 🥈 Nico Iskos (#60 Gen. 2) came in second place and also set a new Gen. 2 lap record of 2:06.852 on his first visit to Buttonwillow. But when the dust had settled, the older platform and 🥇 Ivan Larionov (#86 Gen. 1) left with the gold, 3 black flags, damaged wheel and suspension, but also with a new lap record of 2:06.662.
GT Radial Street Class
Street class picked up the pace with a few modifications optimized for Buttonwillow’s technical layout. Securing 3rd place for the first time was 🥉 Warren Johnsen (#24 Gen. 2) with a 2:11.883, fending off competition behind him. In 2nd place, 🥈 Keith Hnatiuk (#682 Gen. 2) was on a mission, setting a blistering time of 2:04.638. But in the end, the dominant performance was by 🥇 Timur Iskhodzhanov (#944 Gen. 2), achieving first place with calculated precision and a 2:02.790.
Touring Class
Touring class had a podium filled with competitors joining the 86 Challenge for the first time. 3rd place went to 🥉 Wendy Hung (#07 Gen. 1) with a solid 2:17.862. 2nd place, running GT Radial SX2, went to 🥈 Hao Suwang (#93 Gen. 2) with a 2:13.884. And fastest of the new competitors, was Karim Marouf (#92 Gen. 2) with a 2:01.325, earning 1st place!
Unlimited Class
They say it’s lonely at the top, and that was the case for the only sub-2 time of the day from 🥇 Mark Lee (#702 Gen. 1) with a stellar 1:59.872.
